How does my address influence a credit check?

Your credit rating is based on your information only. Where you live, your neighbours and past tenants of your home will not affect your ability to get credit. How often you move will also not affect your credit score.

What can affect your ability to gain credit is the way credit reference agencies report your address. It is therefore essential to make sure all of your personal information is correct before applying for credit and risking being denied.

If the address you provide to lenders does not match the address as it appears on the credit report you will most likely have your application declined.

You can easily correct information on your credit report but it’s essential to do so in plenty of time before you start applying for credit.
